Rakowice Gravel Pit with the 'catch and release' principle starting September 1, 2026

Starting September 1, 2026, the ban on amateur fishing will be lifted at the gravel pits in Rakowice. The fishing area will operate under the 'catch and release' principle.

The Management Board of the Polish Angling Association in Jelenia Góra has adopted resolution no. 54/VIII/2026 regarding the rules for using the fishing grounds at Żwirownia Rakowice no. 1313. This decision is significant for anglers from Bolesławiec and the surrounding areas who utilize the water bodies in the region. Starting from September 1, 2026, the ban on amateur fishing in the gravel pits in Rakowice will be lifted.

At the same time, the fishing ground at Żwirownia Rakowice no. 1313 will be subject to the "catch and release" principle for all species of fish. This means that every caught fish must be immediately and safely released back into the water. The regulations allow for a short photo session, but only with special care and consideration for the fish's welfare.

The new regulations also introduce a ban on taking fish from the fishing ground, with specific exceptions provided in the rules. It will also be prohibited to keep fish in nets or carp bags outside of competitions, to use a landing net, gaffs, and baits made from live or dead fish and their parts.

Anglers using the water body will be required to leave their fishing spot in proper order and to take their trash with them. Before starting to fish, one must familiarize themselves with the current regulations and make an entry in the catch register.

The host of the fishing ground is the PZW Lwówek Śląski Circle. As indicated by the adopted rules, the aim of the changes is to combine the opportunity for angling with the protection of fish and the preservation of the resources of the fishing ground at Żwirownia Rakowice no. 1313.
