City Police Chief in Jelenia Góra Dismissed and Suspended from Duty

The Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław is conducting actions following the publication of a video from a gas station in Wałbrzych. The Chief from Jelenia Góra has been dismissed and suspended.

The Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław announced on September 2, 2026, the actions taken following the publication online of a video showing a fragment of the situation at one of the gas stations in Wałbrzych.

A brawl at the Wałbrzych gas station. A recording of a scuffle between two drivers, which a woman tries to separate, circulated on social media. Suddenly, a man with a telescopic baton appears in the frame. – He was probably an off-duty police officer; it now turns out he was the commander.

The matter is significant for the region, including for the residents of Bolesławiec and Lower Silesia, as according to police findings, three officers were involved in the incident, including a police officer serving as the city commander in Jelenia Góra.

As stated in the announcement, “the findings confirmed the involvement of three police officers, including one serving as the city commander in Jelenia Góra.” In accordance with the applicable procedures, at the request of the Voivodeship Police Commander in Wrocław, the investigation has been taken over by police control units.

The activities conducted by the Control Department of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław aim to thoroughly reconstruct the course of events and determine whether there was a violation of legal regulations. The police also indicate that the case is being assessed from a legal-criminal perspective. The control proceedings are still ongoing, including regarding the involvement of a police officer from the Wałbrzych district.

Preliminary conclusions from the actions taken so far have provided grounds for initiating disciplinary proceedings against the officer serving in the position of City Police Commander in Jelenia Góra. By the decision of the Voivodeship Police Commander in Wrocław, he has been removed from his current position, transferred to the disposal of the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław, and suspended from official duties.
