Fuel Theft in the Municipality of Nowogrodziec. 26-Year-Old Recidivist Faces Four Charges

Police from Nowogrodziec have charged the 26-year-old with four counts. The case involves the theft of 400 liters of diesel fuel from trucks.

A resident of the Zgorzelec district will answer for four crimes committed in the municipality of Nowogrodziec in the Bolesławiec district. The 26-year-old is suspected of two burglaries of fuel tanks of heavy trucks, as well as failing to stop for a traffic control and driving a vehicle despite a court ban.

According to the findings of police officers from the Nowogrodziec police station, the man acted in conditions of recidivism. In August, within a short period of time, he allegedly broke into the fuel tanks of trucks twice at night. A total of 400 liters of diesel fuel worth about 3 thousand zlotys was stolen.

The incidents occurred while truck drivers were taking their mandatory rest. The first time, the 26-year-old prepared four 30-liter canisters, which he filled after breaking into the tank. At that time, 100 liters of fuel were stolen. During the next incident, the man had ten 30-liter containers, which he also filled with diesel fuel from the truck's tank.

The police have brought a total of four charges against the suspect. Two relate to burglary, while the others concern failing to stop for a traffic control and driving a vehicle despite an existing court ban.

The 26-year-old will answer in court. Due to acting in conditions of recidivism, he faces a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
