21 tons of waste from Germany was heading to Poland. Transport stopped on A4

The truck was turned back to Germany, and the waste must return to the sender.

A truck full of metallic scrap and metal alloys was stopped on the A4 highway near Jędrzychowice. The transport was coming from Germany, and the waste was supposed to be delivered to Poland. A check by the National Revenue Administration revealed that the transport was taking place in violation of regulations.

Officers from the Customs and Tax Service of the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław inspected the truck coming from Germany. The trailer contained over 21 tons of waste in the form of metallic scrap and metal alloys.

As established by the officers, the waste originated from construction sites, renovations, and demolitions, as well as from inspections and maintenance of vehicles.

During the document check and inspection of the trailer, it became clear that the driver did not possess the required document regarding the cross-border transport of waste. The transport was also not registered in the SENT system, which is used for the electronic monitoring of specific transports.

The case has been taken over by environmental protection inspectors. The Provincial Inspector of Environmental Protection determined that illegal waste transport had occurred.

The consequences could be serious. The waste recipients face a fine ranging from 10,000 PLN to even 1 million PLN.

However, the 21-ton transport did not reach Poland. The truck was turned back to Germany, and the waste must return to the sender.

The inspection shows that the A4 highway is also a place where authorities check transports crossing the border and respond to attempts to transport waste while bypassing required procedures.
