Quick action by police officers from Jelenia Góra resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old resident of the Karkonosze district, suspected of making death threats against a neighbor and his family members. This is a case from Lower Silesia, which is also being followed by residents of Bolesławiec and the surrounding areas, as it concerns safety in neighborhood conflicts and the response of services to real threats.
The incident occurred a few days ago in one of the towns in the Karkonosze district. According to the officers' findings, during a neighborhood conflict, the 42-year-old threatened the victim with deprivation of life and bodily harm. The situation was particularly dangerous because the man was holding an air gun, for which no permit is required, and he also had a knife on him.
The victims, fearing for their lives and health, notified the Police. Officers from the Traffic Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra responded to the report. The police arrived at the scene and arrested the aggressive man, who was then taken to a police holding cell.
During the proceedings, the sobriety of the 42-year-old was checked. The test showed 0.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. After sobering up, the resident of the Karkonosze district was charged with making death threats. He was brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra, where it was decided to apply preventive measures.
The prosecutor imposed police supervision on the suspect, a ban on approaching the victims and contacting them, as well as a ban on leaving the country. For making death threats, a penalty of up to 3 years in prison is possible. The court will decide the further fate of the 42-year-old.
Police remind that threats directed at other people, especially when accompanied by aggressive behavior and the use of objects that may raise fears for life or health, should be taken seriously. In a situation of real danger, one should not engage in a confrontation with an aggressive person. It is safest to notify the Police as soon as possible by calling the emergency number 112.
